Pikku Pulla

Yet another addition to their Finnish bread selection at Brawn & Brains Coffee. This fits well for peckish appetites, considering how the Pikku Pulla is sized smaller than the other Pulla/buns here, though it's texturally firmer than the buns due to the braiding of the bread. Carrying a hint of cinnamon and a sprinkle of sugar, the Pikku Pulla is a great item to pair with a cup of coffee by the side — much like all their croissants/cake/breads that I have to order whenever I am here.

Beef Pastrami Sandwich ($12.90)

Abandoned my usual orders today as I ventured into the unexplored territory of Brawn & Brains' Beef Pastrami Sandwich.
The huge portion (there're 4 sandwiches on that plate) and mini mountain of potato chips means this can be shared satisfactorily between two people (if they don't have ginormous appetites). And lest you think it is just about size, let me assure you, the taste is right up there as well.
I chose to replace the default baguette with whole wheat bread for $1.50 more. Between those lightly-toasted slices were moist beef pastrami, mixed lettuce, fresh tomatoes and some sundried tomatoes - all held lightly together by gooey melted cheese.
Tasty and very filling, I wouldn't mind having this again when I feel like a break from my favourites - the Curried Chicken Wrap and Molten Eggs.

Brawn & Brains

Heard of this place really long ago and have always wanted to check it out so after years I finally found my way here one weekday morning. Despite the numerous recommendations, I decided on something lighter/smaller and got a blueberry oat bagel and long black. The bagel was pretty yummy because of the blueberries baked into it but probably wasn't toasted long enough to be sufficiently crispy but that's ok. I was asked if I wanted cream cheese, which had a price indicated on the tag with the bagel, which I didn't want, and asked instead if i could just have butter instead. Well I got it, and I didn't know until I was recalling my total bill later, that it costs $0.50 for the butter. 😔

I didn't know cafes charge for butter and I wasn't told at the cashiering point. For $4.50, the long black was quite a small cup too.. but oh well, the pastries were decently priced because there was a promo going on where you get 2 for the price of $8. I packed the other item (chocolate banana roll) which was really good!

May come back again to try the mains/sandwiches, or perhaps the cakes that were featured in other reviews but I didn't see any cakes when I popped in that day.

Orange Loaf Cake Slice

Back to the main branch to have my cake; glad to have ordered the Orange Slice for it's a moist, fluffy piece of cake that wasn't particularly heavy and pretty refreshing with the zingy orange zest and slightly sweet glazing which helps to refresh the tastebuds. Things just never goes wrong here!

Brawn & Brains

Went to Brawn & Brains for some curried chicken wrap($11.90) yesterday!! Overall rating was a 9/10 with good service, ambience and affordable pricing👍🏻There is less than 10 mains on the menu however most of the food there is below $20 and the molten egg dish($16.80) is also a must try😍 Whats more is that there is no service charge or gst☺️Recommended to all!!💖

Almond Vanilla Bun

If you fancy something sweet for breakfast or a snack, this Almond Vanilla Bun will do nicely. It's actually quite filling as it's about the size of a tennis ball, with a heavy and slightly chewy sort of texture. Having it with a cup of Brawn & Brains' awesome coffee is a no-brainer.

Random Brunch

The place is just so pleasant. Don't really remember the Dishes name but we remembered we have chose choice No.1 (what what salmon) & No.6 (what what chicken curry wrap) for our brunch and never thought that we will feel bloated. If you're a small "tank stomach", suggest you to share first and try another dish again next time.
We will come again next time for No.6 somehow, rating 4/5 ⭐️, not bad thou!

Lemon Slice Pound Cake with Pistachio

Back to Brawn & Brains for my weekly "me" time (and also to study) and pleasantly surprised by the special appearance of this cake today — it's definitely been a while since they last dished out cakes here!

The slice is pretty big for $6; thickly sliced and all. The crumbly cake was comforting with a light zing from the lemon that lingers at the back, while the glaze antes things up a little more and gives it a complimenting sweetness. Chopped pistachio bits on the top adds a little crunch to the cake as well. Works great with the Long Black at the side!

For Molten Eggs and Coffee in the East

On weekends, this child-friendly cafe along Guillemard Road is always bustling with activity. They don't take reservations, so come early with a group of friends to snag a seat at one of the two coveted communal tables. Otherwise, be prepared to sit at the counter seats by the window. The menu is written on the chalkboard left of the cashier and while the number of offerings are limited, you can be assured everything is satisfying. Of the five mains, get the egg-cellent Oven Baked Molten Eggs on Tortilla and Melted Cheese ($16.80) that comes with thinly sliced avocado, cherry tomatoes and smoked salmon. The two ready-to-burst molten eggs promise a river of liquid gold, so have your cameras ready to catch all the runny action. If you're dropping by at non-meal times, opt for their tasty Curried Chicken Wrap ($11.90) or their Earl Grey Croissant ($4.20). Pair these bites with a Flat White ($5) or their Cold Brew ($7.80), and just while away your afternoon with a good read.

Baked 🍳 Eggs + Smoked Salmon

Apparently a must try!
The eggs were baked over (what i would think) is a tortilla wrap and buried with 🧀 😋
🍳 Runny and perfectly done...
🥑 = ❤️, and they were pretty generous with the serving
💸$16.90
Its a little pricey for breakie even though the serving was pretty huge. But hey, there's smoked salmon 😏
Verdict: 👍🏼 definitely a place to go to if u would like to slurp some yummy cheesy eggs for a wee breakfast treat.

Curried Chicken Wrap

A very pleasant dish that I enjoyed the more I tucked in. Pretty generous with the chicken pieces which was covered in a boldly flavoured curry sauce (albeit just a tad too sweet for me). The greens as well as the dollop of yoghurt was a thoughtful idea that balanced the whole dish lest it got too one dimensional. Tortilla wrap was well toasted, and cracked nicely with each bite. I had fun flipping it open and eating it like a mini pizza too!

I couldn't help thinking it would have been really interesting if a more "spicy" authentic Indian curry was used instead of this sweeter version which reminded me of a curry puff. Kinda like an Indian fusion dish.
Still, a great dish that I would love to come back for.

+very friendly service though note that no complimentary water is served.

Iced White And A Chocolate Pastry

Favourite place for post climb. Coffee and chocolate. What's not to love. 😍

Way too much coffee.

But if it weren't for the coffee, I'd have no identifiable personality whatsoever. - David Letterman

I had the over baked molten eggs ($12) on tortilla with melted cheese on top at the Brawn and Brains Cafe.

The portion is generous and is more than enough for one person. They have salmon, cherry tomatoes, avocados and spinach as sides. I initially thought why the base of this dish so crusty one? Only realize it is tortilla after reading it online. XD Anyways i love to eat the tortilla with the avocados~
