A new coffee place near Biopolis, @brashboyscoffee serves pretty good coffee around!

I had the Iced Mocha ($6), which was a smooth cup. The coffee itself wasn't too acidic and definitely complemented well with the chocolate within. The coffee wasn't too sweet and milky as well. However, I do wish for it to be stronger, so that I can taste the coffee more. Still, it's not bad of a cup!

The office folks around Biopolis would probably be happy about this one — opening recently at Neuros within Biopolis, Brash Boys Coffee (not to be confused with Rough Guys Coffee at South Bridge Road) is one of the new spots serving up specialty coffee in the area joining the likes of Little Big Coffee Roasters, which is situated in the same building. Taking up a shop space along the walkway within the building, Brash Boys Coffee is hidden away from the main road considering how they are located in the same stretch of shop spaces where the outlets of Don Godzilla and Chirashi King Kong are located. Being an establishment that is set up rather simply, the interior design theme of Brash Boys Coffee can be said as pretty raw — whilst the walls have been painted white, the floor is still pretty much left in its original state of concrete; the counter also bearing a similar-looking finish to complete that look alongside furniture that mainly features metallic accents. Offering the office folks of Biopolis quality specialty coffee, their specialty coffee is brewed using beans roasted by Tiong Hoe Specialty Coffee (they also run a cafe on their own at Stirling Road apart from the various kiosks that they run in several establishments), while non-coffee beverages listed on the menu at Brash Boys Coffee includes teas and chocolate. For those who are looking for a light bite to pair with their cuppa, Brash Boys Coffee does offer a range of donuts, tea cakes, cookies, brownies, buns and tarts — these do get sold out early so so check with them about the availability during the visit.

Considering how we have made our visit during the late afternoon, Brash Boys Coffee had ran out of all the light bites on their menu; they were also out of the Brash Black / White — essentially their rendition of the Iced Black / White that is served with espresso iced cubes (i.e. espresso frozen into ice cubes). We found ourselves going for our standard order of the White as a result — brewed using the Gachala blend of beans roasted by Tiong Hoe Specialty Coffee which contains 50% Colombian and 50% Guatemalan beans, the Chooa carried a nutty and earthy flavour profile when brewed as a White with a medium body that is fairly punchy and great as a perk-me-up; probably due to the fact how Brash Boys Coffee serves their coffee with a double ristretto shot for all orders. The only qualm with the cuppa here would be the crema; seemingly over-frothed considering how it seems fairly dense and thick — otherwise a decent cuppa to go for.

Despite its really raw looks, Brash Boys Coffee is a spot that feels rather earnest — the small setup allows for an intimate experience between the patrons and baristas; the baristas being pretty prompt with engaging into conversations with their customers to gather feedback on their coffee, as well as to discuss about coffee and also about the locality as well. The guys here do also seem to be very enthusiastic about coffee as well; probably the reason why they had entered into the F&B scene as they had done so — very earnest folks who want to serve the very best to their patrons which is also the very reason why they had settled to serve their coffees with double ristretto shots as well. A spot that would likely be well-loved by the Biopolis community, we do look forward to be back at Brash Boys Coffee some day to have a more refined cuppa as they gain more experience in pulling the perfect cuppa.
