Hooray! It’s the weekend. 🥳

Treated to some of my fav food — goose liver [a.k.a. foie gras] and lobster 🦞 at a little nook in a quiet neighbourhood of Pandan Gardens today.

Used to visit Bowen’s cafe (formerly located at Blk 526 Jurong West Street 52) which was just a stone’s throw away from my workplace.

This cafe sure ticks all the right boxes —
✔️ Good food,
✔️ good ingredients &
✔️ looks as Good as it tastes!

Came across this place in Pandan Gardens while eating at Ah Hua Teo Chew Fishball Noodles. Ordered the Chicken Chop, Arrabiatta Spaghetti, Mushroom Spaghetti and Foie Gras. Added 3.50 to upgrade one of the spaghetti into a set meal that comes with mushroom soup and grilled garlic bread. At $10.90 for spaghetti and $9.00 for the Foie Gras, $8.20 for the chicken chop, I considered the prices to be reasonable. Tastes good.

Coming back to try the beef steak and Foie Gras.

We also had the signature lobster with pasta in tomato sauce. A good mix of fresh herbaceous and tangy flavors while adding on to the sweet juiciness of the gigantic lobster pincers. The al dente spaghetti was also evenly coated with the tomato sauce. This dish cost about $40, but it was really worthwhile given the considerable portion and food quality.

You know the Boston lobster is really fresh if you find meat even in their legs. Thanks Chef for letting us on this secret! Check out their Facebook page for daily updates. They also have another outlet at 526 Jurong West Street 52.

Say what, fresh lobsters at neighborhood prices without having to break the bank? Yes please! Heard so much from my dad that I had to try this no frills Italian cuisine in my estate.

At Bowen’s, you can be certain that you’ll be served some fresh produce with their daily specials, be it lobsters or oysters. But that also means you gotta be in luck to catch them! We had the lobster in garlic butter sauce, served with truffle fries and mesclun salad. Rich creamy, savoury flavours that were rather heavy on the palate. I liked the robustness of the overall taste especially with garlic and black pepper, but I would also recommend sharing to avoid a monotonous experience where the sauce could have overshadowed the sweetness of the crustacean.

Day's special. From a HDB Kopitiam at block 526. Previously located at 517 Jurong West.

Prepared fresh, as I was given a peek of the crate of live lobsters. Meat is succulent and enriched by the sweet, tang tomato sauce.

Bowen's give fantastic food, and it seems like their food is always adjusting to consumer tastes. The problem is the location of the place is pretty hard to get to, being 13 mins walk away from Lakeside MRT. If you do visit I do suggest ordering the specials, as they seem to do different things from duck confit to grilled lobsters to wild boar pasta. A hidden gem indeed.

Though a whole lobster looks impressive on the plate, it means that the small morsels of meat from inside the legs and claw knuckles are hard to extract.
