everytime i walk past BOP, i MUST get their white chrysanthemum icecream with cacao nibs!! ($5 without cone, $6 with cone) i love how this flavour is super light and refreshing, with hints of chrysanthemum. with every bite comes crunchy cacao nibs that have a nutty flavour!!

I deliberately picked White Chrysanthemum, a refreshing tea that I expect to be lighter and less creamy. However, I still found it a little too sweet and quite heavy on the milk. It was much like the Pokka Chrysanthemum we are all too familiar with. The floral notes however, were brought out strongly and the cacao nibs provided crunchiness with every bite.

Always welcomed on a hot hot afternoon when I’m in the area. The smell of the shop will draw you in - the aroma of their Thyme Cone 🌿

Too many flavours to decide on, I’m always falling back to the usual pistachio and the chocolate hazelnutty Midnight Gianduja 🤤 Smooth, rich and creamy gelato.

I tried Sea-Salt Hojicha + Osmanthus Pear Sobert (diary-free) (double scoop) for this round of time. I think that the thyme cone smell is so similar 👌 sea-salt hojicha was milky and creamy compared to osmanthus pear sobert was refreshing and less milky & creamy. I almost forgot to describe the taste for both of them. But then sea-salt hojicha is that mild roasted tea flavour whereas osmanthus pear sobert was fruit based ice cream flavour.

We walked past bird of paradise, the smell of waffle took me in. I was so full (combination of trying to fast during the date with a couple of sweets; i ate too fast and the coconut in the laksa made me bloated;) i thought since i was here, i must have one. So i picked lychee rose in cone. Very refreshing light icecream, probably neutralised the acid in my stomach, i felt so much better after having the icecream. I was told it was my imagination. Anyway, i dont care. I did feel less bloated!

Finally got to try this popular ice cream that I read so many reviews about.

The toughest part of this visit, was what flavour to get. All looks very good.

After much deliberation, decided to get the popular white chrysanthemum.

It was certainly very good and i realised that chrysanthemum does make a good ice cream flavour. I was initially skeptical if this was any good.

But what totally surprised me here, was the freshly prepared waffle cone, really smells and taste great and will go well with any ice cream.

$6(single scoop with cone)
$9(double scoop with cone)

Loved the roasted sesame!!! It may look mild but it’s has such strong sesame flavours - it’s sweet but not overly so, gives me bssm tangyuan vibes in terms of flavour. It’s actually roasted white sesame with bssm swirled in, and it’s nutty and fragrant, big yums 🤤 Texture-wise, it’s rather smooth and creamy.

Dark choc sorbet was rich and chocolatey, was rather refreshing for a chocolate flavour - not as heaty and creamy. It’s lighter on the palate! Texture was smooth and not at all icy, it’s one of the few sorbets I like and have tried a few time :’)

Thankfully queue not too long when we reached and managed to get our cones quickly
Both look similar but the flavours definitely is not.
Mint flavour not very strong but bit sweet in my opinion and PB sticking with his fav-white chrysanthemum

It’s a premium flavour so +$1, and cone is $1. It’s a decent pistachio gelato, but not one of the best I’ve had - dawn’s gelato, dopa dopa, and venchi do a more creamy, intensely flavoured one. This one is of similar standard to apiary I feel. It’s decently nutty and smooth, but I’ll would rather go for their other flavours! Love the thyme cone as usual, it’s crunchy and fragrant and one of my fav cones ever :)

Icecream Cone w/ Double Scoop ($10)
🌟 Pistachio
Oh I loved this flavour - the Pistachio was really strong, and it was so nutty as well! The icecream was also really creamy, I enjoyed the texture here!

White Chrysanthemum
I can see why many rave about this flavour, because it does contain this floral flavour you'd expect from chrysanthemum, but NGL it really reminded me of the 3-in-1 Chrysanthemum Powder Sachet I used to bring overseas.

Not to forget the cone was really crispy, and I personally enjoy crunching on the cone with my Icecream, so it's still overall not bad an experience! I'd still head back for the other flavours some day 🤭.

Overall Rating: 7.5/10

This ice cream with its floral blend of white chrysanthemum really blew my mind . So light & so yummy . Like a bouquet in your mouth

Still one of my favourite ice cream places, especially with the special and fragrant thyme cone! Personal bias goes to strawberry basil

We decided to try a new flavour today and we thought the strawberry basil flavour would be a really interesting one! Unsurprisingly, the strawberry taste was dominant but the flavour was great because the strawberry taste was relatively light and it is not overwhelming. 😁 The basil taste was really mild and provides a herby undertone to the ice cream although it would certainly be interesting if more basil were used.

As usual, the thyme cone is great and we would strongly encourage everyone to pay that extra bit for the cone. You won't regret getting it! 😁

Opted for a change of flavour this time round and chose black sesame

as usual, BOP ice cream are always pretty light on the palette. i kinda enjoyed this flavour too

BUT WHITE CHRYSANTHEMUM REMAINS THE TOP!!!

This chrysanthemum gelato has a floral infusion of chrysanthemum florets and sprinkled with cacao nibs, a superfood that is rich in antioxidants and nutrients. It comes with a light unique flavour with a subtle fragrance. Very creamy in texture and refreshing on your palate. It goes very well with their thyme cone that is very fragrant with a light crunch 》$6

Still my favorite gelato place in the east 💗 their botanical ice cream never disappoints☺️ I didn’t know it’s a @michelinguide ice cream place?! And apparently their cups are made from sugarcane pulp which is sustainable 👍 can never resist buying a scoop every time I walk past😍

Birds of Paradise, a boujie gelato boutique located in the East Coast, is a popular local favourite and always comes up in conversations about 🍦!

Today, during an afternoon drive, we shortlisted our flavours and decided to try it out!!! Knowing my luck, it started POURING, and by pouring, I mean it felt like someone was LITERALLY floating above my head and throwing buckets of water on me.

Lychee & Raspberry
Light pink, floral, and fruity! This flavour is really refreshing and tastes like summer! However, it took me a while to get the lychee flavour, but the traces raspberry was very strong.

Spiced Pear 🍐
What? Wow! Omg, this one was a clear winner. The strongest flavour of the three I tried. The fresh flavour of the fruit paired with the spice complimented each other perfectly. The tiny chunks of pear added a tiny crunch!

White Chrysanthemum
Not too sure what I was expecting when I ordered this BEST SELLER flavour, but I do not regret it AT ALL. Every bite tasted like I was eating a flower field, it was delicate and sweet. I loved the tiny cocoa nibs that remained crunchy even as the gelato melted towards the end.

Thyme Waffle Cone
The sprigs of thyme folded into the batter is one of the most unusual, but creative twists to waffle cones. I loved how it complimented every flavour and toned down the sweetness. The best part was that it remained crunchy!

Overall, I thought the flavours were really subtle. Which in some ways is good because the scoops are really generous and you can enjoy the mild flavour over a longer period of time.
The scoops were REALLY big, omg what, I’m a slow ice cream/gelato eater so it took a while and started melting hahaha oops.

🌱: I really appreciated that the spoon and cup were biodegradable. This sustainable touch made me feel better about settling for a cup!

💸: Single Cup = $5, Double Cone = $9

⚠️: Located on East Coast road so it’s quite hard to access with a car. $$$ (but the scoops are quite big).

✨: 4/5

Memory/highlight: great range of flavours, you are spoilt for choice!

We tried black sesame and uji matcha flavours!! Both were so good. The cone had very rich flavour too!! Will recommend going for the cone. There are no seating areas inside so a lot of people are hovering around the shop eating the ice cream 🤣 so it's very easy to spot the shop

CHERRY 🍒 BASIL tastes somewhat like a milder version of their signature strawberry Basil. The Basil 🌿 whiff was strong, the Cherry taste was pretty mild. (The strawberry 🍓 flavour has a more pronounced strawberry taste!)

SPICED PEAR 🍐 consists of a blend of cloves, cinnamon, anise etc. Somewhat Christmas-y! I could taste really teeny pear bits too!

Of course, both scoops in a thyme cone.
The B.O.P experience is never complete without the cone!!
