Grilled Chicken - $6.50
·
Juicy tender grilled chicken thigh. Served with vegetables of the day (Coleslaw) and a choices of rice, dauphinois (layered potato) or french fries. Coleslaw is refreshing but fries was below average. Grilled chicken chop was made upon order, season with salt and pepper, which was kinda too salty for me. For the amount paid, I would hope for double the portion of chicken chop. Stall owner is friendly and down to earth, can consider telling him any special meal request in the future

Belirub - Le Cordon Bleu Hawker
Jalan Batu Hawker Centre - # 01-12
Ch5 Buzzing Hawker

Advertised as a “Must Try” dish thanks to Mediacorp Channel 5’s Buzzing Hawkers, this S$7.30 dish from Belirub (#01-12) was an interesting find from a quiet hawker centre. The place draws quite a fair bit of lunch crowd from the vicinity, but a 20-minute wait (with 3 other sets of customers before me) became a little questionable.

I thought the dish was quite rich in its flavours, with turmeric coleslaw and baby potato salad by the side and some sauce lining the dish so that the crispy-skin grilled chicken thigh was placed on top. For a moment, I was not sure if the meat should be smaller than the amount of coleslaw given, but given that the marination was on the salty side, this proportion seemed to make sense, just that the economical aspect of it didn’t, considering that this came from a hawker centre where patrons come for sustenance more than appreciation.

the most valuable salmon I've tried so far. it cost me only 10.8 for an impressively delicious salmon experience. it came as a true surprise when I was told the owner has studied, lived and worked in Texas before. No wonder he managed to bring real Western delicacy to a hawker centre. btw, the waiting time could be longer than normal hawker food but definitely shorter than normal Western restaurant food. Specially mention, the owner is really really warm and welcome. That's also the reason why I am willing to wait for the nice food and pay more for my lunch.
