Halloumi & eggs [$15] New on the brunch menu, this vegetarian dish comprises of two eggs of your style (scrambled, onsen, sunny side up or over easy), served with fried kale chips, roasted mushrooms, mini crossaint, pomme noisettes, grilled tomato and the main highlight- grilled halloumi.

In case you are wondering, halloumi is actually an unripened brined cheese made form a mixture of goat and sheep's milk. Every element in this kaleidoscopic brunch platter was a satisfaction to my palate (apart from the tomatoes of course ๐Ÿ˜…). The grilled halloumi had a slightly crisp chargrilled exterior with a firm, rubbery interior and a piquant flavour that's rather similar to a thick feta cheese. Moving on, the scrambled eggs were done to perfection- creamy and smooth, silky texture with a milky, eggy fragrance! ๐Ÿ’– The fried kale chips were crisp and seaweed-like, adding a tinge of saltiness to the platter and was surprisingly additive and great ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป The mini crossaint was toasted to a crisp, flaky exterior coupled with a pillowy interior that withheld a lingering buttery fragrance. In addition, the roasted mini portobellos were well sautรฉed with a distinctive earthy note coupled with a chewy, juicy texture. Lastly, the pomme noisettes (deep fried potatoes) were crisp with a soft, creamy mash interior that was also an addiction - wish there was more of it! ๐Ÿ˜‹ A fulfilling and satisfying brunch that was worth every $ spent and every calorie intake, coupled with a welcoming, friendly service from the crews here that made my trip worthwhileโ˜บ๏ธ .

Hot Houjicha latte [$6] Using roasted green tea from Japan, the Houjicha latte here surprisingly exceeded my expectations!

Usually not one that would order drinks at cafes (as I personally find it not worth), I was glad I did here - though it was for the sake of the latte art initially ๐Ÿ˜น. The characteristic roasted flavour was surprisingly distinct, with a lingering roasted aroma coupled with a pleasant earthy note. Though not the best Houjicha latte - with my personal favourite still from Matchaya, this was not too bad for a cafe beverage (that does not specialize in teas). .

; Crabby Patty

Well it seems like @artistrycafesg has gone on to further perfect their all time best seller Crabby Patty's secret formula and it's now ready for the public's palates (eye) ๐Ÿคค.

A fistful of meat from the blue swimmer crab encrusted like a croquette, sandwiched between buttered Sundried Tomato brioche buns. Served with a side of either Mesclun Greens or Shoestring Fries and their punchy housemade chilli crab sauce. Expect some good heat from the sauce but it'll have you double dipping everything from your fries to crab patty and even your burger buns in them.

Burpple Tastemaker Eatup at Artistry (19/06/2017) โ€” New Menu

Got the opportunity to have a taste of Artistry's new menu that launches tomorrow for today's Burpple Tastemaker Eatup โ€” they have kept quite a number of the favourites on the menu such as the Chili Crab Burger, Big Breakfast and BRB Pancakes with slight tweaks to the recipe whilst introducing new items such as the Ondeh Ondeh Pancakes and Steak & Eggs.

The old items that we had a taste on were all pretty satisfying โ€” some of them being items that we loved in the past and still love; the Chili Crab Burger still carried potent kick being moderately spicy with a tang and a hint of crustacean sweetness that we found ourselves hard to hold back trying to dip everything we could in there. The crabcake patty was also a clear winner; loads of shredded crab meat without fillers within the crisp, fried crust. Big Breakfast saw a change from wholegrain toast to a mini croissant, while coming with eggs done in a few variations, bacon, sausages, sautรฉed mushrooms, fried potato balls and charred kale that replaces the spinach that was used previously โ€” the scrambled eggs were especially delicious being creamy and runny; a comforting breakfast dish to wake up to for a satisfying weekend brunch. BRB Hotcake is Artistry's take on the ever-photogenic Ricotta Hotcake โ€” a warm, fluffy hotcake that whiffs of buttery fragrance within that comes with sunflower seeds for a crunch, cream cheese, berries and a scoop of Vanilla ice-cream; literally a party in the mouth with its complex, but complimenting flavours that is bound to please.

Being one of the totally new items, the Steak & Eggs comes with 300grams of 150 days grain fed Australian Angus Striploin, served pink (which is, according to them, near medium-rare โ€” level of doneness can be adjusted) with smashed Japanese pumpkin and Onsen eggs. The beef comes relatively tender, cut along the grain and rather easy to chew in general, while the pumpkin was a smart addition that cut the meatiness with its sweetness โ€” a thoughtful touch which was incredibly well-executed. The Ondeh Ondeh Hotcake which was a spinoff of their BRB Hotcake โ€” uses elements such as Pandan Coconut Gelato, Gula Melaka, Coconut Ricotta Cream; a more familiar, local-inspired version that hints of slight pandan flavour overall. We also tried the Beer Battered Fish Burger and Sakura Ebi Aglio Olio โ€” both dishes being well-executed in their own right and stays true to Artistry's usual quality that they established their name with.

Thanks to Artistry for hosting and Burpple for the invite โ€” a tasting that I had enjoyed both the food and the company!

Ondeh Ondeh Hotcakes? On, Deh

The ondeh ondeh hotcake is of the new desserts in Artistry's reworked 2017 menu, which launches today. A perfectly round pandan hotcake is topped off with a generous scoop of pandan coconut gelato, a few artistic dabs of coconut ricotta creme, and a sprinkling of toasted coconut bits.

The pandan flavors were pleasingly pungent and reminded me of a more satisfying version of those pandan waffles that go for a dollar a pop at any old bakery, but the texture of the hotcake was something else. It was light, airy and so fabulously fluffy, it beats even a well constructed sponge cake hands down.

The creamy, indulgent pandan coconut gelato was the heavy, rich counter to the light airiness of the hotcakes. The frozen sweet treat was fully loaded with the sweet, sweet notes of pandan and coconut. Unfortunately, the light drizzle of gula melaka syrup was so inadequate it was effectively a no-show. From the little dab that I managed to sample, the gula melaka syrup is simply smashing, but Artistry needs to make that sterling syrup rain, and not just sprinkle a few drops here and there. Thankfully, the lack of syrup was ameliorated by the generous scoop of wonderful gelato.

Thanks to Artistry's excellent Ondeh Ondeh Hotcakes, I now know why the term 'sell like hotcakes' exists, because it's impossible for me to physically restrain myself from throwing money at this stellar sweet treat.

Thank you for hosting us so warmly Prashant, and thanks for the invite Burpple!

Ondeh Ondeh Hotcake

Springy Pandan hotcake, slightly crispy on the edges, served with a luminous green Pandan Coconut Gelato, Sticky Gula Melaka sauce, knobs of Coconut Ricotta Cream and specks of Desiccated Coconut. Every mouthful capturing the essence of the traditional Malay Kueh its named after.

Ondeh Ondeh Hotcake, Sakura Ebi Aglio Olio & Beer Batter Fish Burger (Not In Pic)

This fused concept of our iconic green kueh and western hotcake was not as breath taking as the chilli crab burger.
An unbiased consultation with local experts of ondeh ondeh may be beneficial- to twerk this sweet item but till then I'll stick with the BR pancakes.
The other two items (Prawn Aglio Olio, Beer Batter Fish Burger) were on the other hand decently executed- fuss free options once you've tried the signature items and are looking for alternatives.

Berries & Ricotta Hotcake

If you'd allow me to be seen as a pancake aficionado; this was a no brainer classic combination of berries (raspberries, strawberries, blackberries) and vanilla ice cream on a hot off the pan-pancake with ricotta nuggets.

Better pancakes in Singapore? For sure.

Not sure it's a "fortunate" error or intentional but the charred rims of the pancake added a nice crisp to the browned bed.

An Artfully Crafted Burger That Goes Swimmingly Well

It's been forever since I've had Artistry's fabled chili crab burger ($25). Come to think of it, the last time I had it was during @veronicaphua's Tasty Tastemaker Tour (!). And just like fine wine and yours truly, this burger gets better with age.

The thin coating of breading is barely able to restrain a colossal amount of blue swimmer crabmeat into a patty. The breading is light, crispy and well seasoned, while the (legit, yo) crabmeat within is mildly briny and satisfyingly meaty.

The chili sauce in the bowl seems to be more potent than I remember, and by God it is REVOLUTIONARY. It's so good, even the chili crab sauce from several established seafood restaurants pale in comparison. It hits all the right notes of sweet, savory and thick, and of course, the fiery kick certainly does not disappoint.

I had half a mind to just steal one of these for myself and scarf it down like an absolute glutton, but I was feeling rather charitable that day.

That's right, you are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to be EXTREMELY selfish when it comes to this beautiful burger.

Thank you for hosting us so warmly Prashant, and thanks for the invite Burpple!

Artistry Chill Crab Burger

Always a risk when you try to fuse 2 concept from different cuisines together- but the above was worth the bet.
Named Artistry's (signature) Chilli Crab Burger for a reason- the western concept of burger and fries is a hit with our local Chilli crab sauce.

The enamouring highlight on the plate had to be the bowl of sweet- then packing a sassy chilli ๐ŸŒถ kick sauce. It would do many local zichar food establishment proud.
