The small cafe stocks a rotation of carefully curated craft beers that will go down great with any of its dishes. We had the Lervig Lucky Jack, Hofbräu München Original, Matso's Lychee Beer, and Matso's Hit the Toad. Lervig Lucky Jack is the perfect beer to combat the sweltering heat of Singapore with the revitalizing flavors of grapefruit and citrus fruits. Hofbräu München Original is a classic German lager with refreshing, bright and bitter flavors that make it really easy to drink. Matso's Lychee Beer carries a syrupy sweet fragrance of lychees with a sticky mouthfeel with an aftertaste of canned lychee syrup that lingers. Matso's Hit the Toad is rather malty with a delicately sweet taste of corn.

With extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar (brownies not included)

Perfect bread that was nicely chewy inside and crispy on all surfaces(not only the crust)

Went at 1pm and they were already sold out. Given its the last lunch it's not entirely unexpected but still selling out in 1 hour is amazing

I knew I had to visit “Ah Bong’s Italian” one more time before Chris moved on to his next venture. Having been really busy of late, it’s only today, on his last day of operations, that I made it. The place was packed as many customers came to have one more dose of his style of Italian cooking.
We started with the Comfort Eggs, that simple but very appetising combination of wobbly soft eggs with sausage, mushrooms sautéed in garlic and topped with grated cheese. This has been such a popular must-have that whenever you arrived late, the risk of having it sold out was high.
After some deliberation, the two pastas we went with were the Sausage Pomodoro, a straight-up Italian dish and the Shoyu Burro, a fusion creation with Japanese soya sauce, Danish butter, chicken, chili and vegetable. Both were part of the amazing value lunch sets (inclusive of a drink and dessert) priced at $12 and $16 respectively,
Thanks again Chris for giving us tasty and very reasonably-priced pastas and other items all these years! I am sure there are many who still remember having their first taste of @ahbongsitalian at your coffeeshop hawker stall in Tiong Bahru.

Burrata (S$14)
Soft Italian cheese 🧀, home-made rustic bread 🍞 , slow-roasted tomatoes 🍅..
Available at @AhBongsItalian
Soft fluffy bread 🍞 pairing the milky buttery cheese 🧀. The place was packed and kind of messy in getting a table. Imagine the one in queue behind got a table before you. That’s kind of situation.

Been meaning to come here for a long time and fonally managed to (before it closes!) Got the Shoyu Pasta ($12) which had Japanese soy sauce, broccoli and chili. Meal included a drink and a small dessert, which made it super satisfying. Simple and good!

I guess most people would've known that pasta is the specialty here, but I just couldn't turn a blind eye to their "To share" menu especially since "Home-made rustic bread" is written on it. I thus got myself Comfort Eggs ($8) to go with a serving of those bread ($5), while my friend got a duck pasta ($16 w/ dried pasta, $21 w/ handmade pasta).

The Comfort Eggs came with 2 onsen eggs, pork sausage, mushrooms, cheese and truffle oil. Although the truffle oil is hardly noticeable, it was definitely a comforting, no-frills dish; in fact, the rustic bread stole the show for being perfectly toasted and substantial. The pasta, too, wasn't bad nor highly spectacular, perhaps their handmade pasta would've impressed us more. Nonetheless, the dried pasta was al-dente and the accompanying condiments were cooked well.

The homemade pasta is soft and comes with a good bite together with the savoury meat ragu, beef cheek and duroc pork. Don’t forget to order the delicious crab and ricotta ravioli for your side too 😋

Ah Bong Italian serves some of the satisfying Italian food without burning a hole in the pocket. Tuck into sharing plates such as simply crab cakes, burrata, crispy pork belly and more. Pasta main choices such as angus, amatriciana, gnocchi; prices from S$16. And you can opt for homemade pasta at an additional of S$5. One of my favourite sharing plates would be crab cakes (S$8); Not only homemade, they were also filled with savoury crab meat. (Photo carousel) The plump and pillowy gnocchi (S$19) made with homemade potato dumplings with tasty chicken fillings inside. .
Thanks @justinfoodprints for the invite

This little gem along Tan Quee Lan is where owner-chef Chris runs his humble looking Italian eatery. Despite its affordable prices, I find that they serve very decent Italian cuisine, and every dish felt like they were made from the heart by Chef-owner Chris. Yes, I've been back several times
🔸
Their homemade pasta is soft and had a good bite to it. This "Angus" dish came with meat ragu, beef cheek, and duroc pork, but you wouldn't go wrong with other main course choices, such as the pasta served with slow-cooked duck ($16), crab and ricotta ravioli ($21), and the amatriciana ($16).
🔸
They serve good starters as well, we've tried crab cakes ($8), charred beef short ribs ($8) and burrata ($14). Check out @foodgemsg, @wishuponatart, @shermyyy and @whatjess123 for their reviews, and @ahbongsitalian to check out their daily changing menu.

This is taken during a tasting, but you know I've always been a regular paying customer here.

Upon entering, its interior definitely didn’t shout Italian but more like a bright green cafe.
The beef ragù and pesto shrimp pasta we had were pretty flavourful. We didn’t top up for their homemade pasta so these were just decent.
Their sides stood out more for us instead. The crab cakes were tasty with mayo dip. The comfort egg was aromatic with sautéed mushrooms, chorizo and truffle oil. Crispy pork belly was a decent complement to the pastas.
A small and humble place with some decent food although we wouldn’t shout much about it for good authentic Italian food.

Hearing Angus Meat Ragu had us all salivating and looking forward to the meal, especially when we glimpsed the option of handmade pasta. And when it came ooooh look at that mound of meat?! So we dug in, rather enthusiastically I may add, only to find braised meat that tasted unfortunately one dimensional. It lacked the depth some really good mirepoix and tomato paste would’ve added, and more like a starchy meat sauce than a traditional ragu. Points for the al dente pasta which I personally enjoyed, but the flat flavours made the dish boring and jelak after a couple of mouthfuls. Would’ve helped if they reduced the portions a little or added another element to help keep it balanced!

Ah Bong's is a place which I trust for homely quality Italian food at affordable prices. This pork belly is great as well, with a crackling skin and tender flesh. Even though they're not roast meat specialists, their roast pork is better than most siew yoke out there.
🔸
Two other places which I love for their roast pork / porcetta is Carvery @parkhotelalexandra (grab some as soon as it's open for dinner buffet), and 88 Roast Specialist.

Simplicity at its best. A set lunch at Ah Bong's consists of a plate of pasta, a drink and a slice of dessert (we got a brownie). Extremely value for money, and I liked the pasta for its understated simplicity.

I like their home made spaghetti this time round, because it has a firm texture and prepared al dente, and it definitely goes well with any sauce that carries a savoury taste. Just a personal preference of liking my noodles and pasta cooked on point, but it's quite subjective actually.

And of course, the fish roe they used did not turn out to be too salty. Using diced cucumbers in this case is an ingenious idea as it adds the crunch with that refreshing feel with a bite.

Just S$5.00 more than the regular pre-packed pasta, getting this plate of fusion pasta at S$21.00 is the right choice.

Dried pasta for $16, home made for $21. Will try the home made one next time to taste the difference. But this pasta is pretty good, very meaty and full of flavor and the pasta wasn't too watery as well. (Some are so watery it's almost like soup) 😩

I think the lunch deal is much more worth it as it is $12 nett for main, side and drinks. Came here on a weekend, promo was 1 free can drink with 1 side purchase. Around $20/pax.

This is a no brainer. I loved the meaty flavors and it went really well with the home made pasta. It's worth getting the home made pasta. Love the dedication behind every dish served here. Can't wait to be have this again!

It was flavourful and I really liked the crispy flakes that came with it. Only wish was that maybe some vege was added to the currently carnivorous dish 😂
⚠️ They have $12 weekday lunch sets that comes with pasta, soft drink & home-made dessert which is way more worth it than dinner time so I'll be back for that 👐🏼

Poor man's truffle. I could smell the truffle as the server was bringing this to me. This is how strong the smell was. They have a generous portion of Conchiglie pasta, mushroom pesto and cheese on top. I ordered the $12 lunch set that comes with a drink and a measly brownie. yummy yummy yummy. I also blogged about it here https://tinyurl.com/mylhjkr
