J 14.5+svc Matcha doesn't come thru much Yuzu and goma were strong. In fact the yuzu was so strong it covered up the goma at first, the goma comes thru at the end. As someone w sensitive taste buds the flavours clashed a lot and didn't mesh but my dining partner highlighted to me that not everyone perceives it the same way. She's right because this is a bestseller here, their signature and so it must be that most ppl find it strong but harmonious enough to like it

Earl Grey Pear Sweet Mille-Feuille Sando Heard all about the new KKI x Yusuke Shimura concept that will be running within the space of KKI at their Seah Street location from 31 May 2023 to 10 September 2023 — Yusuke Shimura being an artist from Japan and the current collaboration is named the Dreaming Dreaming pop-up. The theme, as claimed on KKI’s website, attempts to “evoke memories for everyone and creates new dreams with children” — the start date of the pop-up nicely coinciding with the June school holidays as well. With the Dreaming Dreaming pop-up, KKI is taking a pause from the reservation of their usual mousse cakes during the entire run of the pop-up; instead, they will be serving a whole new line-up of Mille-Feuille Sando; a new creation which is launched just for the Dreaming Dreaming pop-up. While the initial launch sees the introduction of three new Sweet Mille-Feuille Sandos, there are plans to release a further line-up of savoury ones in the coming months before the Dreaming Dreaming pop-up comes to an end. It is also noted that with the Dreaming Dreaming pop-up, KKI is now open for dine-in and takeaways without reservations needed — a more casual collaboration as compared to what they have had in the past. For beverages, patrons can choose between various bottled brews sourced from Old Hen Coffee Bar (yes, the same one at Rangoon Road / Owen Road), as well as sparkling teas from Gryphon Tea Company There are only three Sweet Mille-Feuille Sando to choose from when we had visited the KKI x Yusuke Shimura on the very first day of operations. One of the Sweet Mille-Feuille Sando that really stood out amongst the various flavours available would be the Earl Grey Pear Sweet Mille-Feuille Sando — a variant of the Sweet Mille-Feuille Sando that can be said of a rather safe flavour combination. The Mille-Feuille Sando can be said as a dessert which features two layers of Mille-Feuille pastries sandwiching a thick layer of pastry cream within. In the case of the Earl Grey Pear Sweet Mille-Feuille Sando, the pastry cream would be that of an Earl Grey pastry cream coupled with diced cubes of pears within. Think of the Mille-Feuille pastries as something similar to that of Japanese biscuits; crisp and flaky pastry that reveals layers of lamination within — these were also lightly glazed on the exterior and comes with a bit of dusting of icing sugar over the top. The Earl Grey pastry cream here is absolutely on-point; smooth and creamy, bearing a distinct aroma of the tea, while the nibs of pear provide a soft crunch and a bit of sweetness to provide some contrast to the entire dessert. Overall, a rather simple creation, though it does require some skill to achieve the right consistency here especially for the Mille-Feuille pastry; the balance of flavours achieved here also is something with commending. Molten Chocolate Cake | $18 Had to wait 20 minutes for the molten chocolate cake so you know this better be good. The 70% valrhona guanaja molten chocolate was so rich, flowing out with a thick yet smooth consistency. No doubt it’s sweet, but nothing too unbearable if you neutralise it with the crumbs and vanilla ice cream on the side, as well as with a glass of wine. And definitely share this decadent dessert if you’re not too much of a sweet tooth. Rate:🌟🌟🌟

The dish that was the highlight was strangely enough the cauliflower steak, it was sooo good - the grilled cauliflower alone was so flavourful, but paired with the romesco sauce took it to a whole other level. We loved the other dishes as well.

Dashi w egg 19.8++, add on chili oil +2++ The Dashi is not weak, unlike most. There's a substantial body, and a lot of umami. Really good. Noodles on the soft side. Egg was perfect, jammy inside. The char siew is abit dry tho. Smoked duck was utterly amazing, packed full of flavour. It's like the NTUC chilled one(which is alr good) on crack However, the chili oil is the surprising. Component. I mean, if they dare charge 2bucks for oil, there's gotta be reason right? And it turns out to be very good reason. Not very spicy, but super aromatic from the chili and somehow despite it lacking body itself, combines with the Dashi broth to become a completely different beast with a chili body and you can't rlly taste the Dashi anymore. Fabulous Must try. Esp when there's no queue at 1130am on a Saturday

Red tonkotsu 13.9++ add on egg +2++ menma +1++ and toroniku +5.5++ The tonkotsu broth is on the thinner side but it's still pretty good. Spicy miso is really good tho, barely tastes like miso just a savoury sauce. Char siu has tender fats but the meat was slightly dry. Also it's only 1 piece. Black fungus is unseasoned, unacceptable. It tastes watery For the add ons, lava egg was overcooked and not marinated enough. Menma was good and generous. Toroniku was super tender and flavourful but it's abit wasted here cos there's no crisp at all. Overall the ramen is decent, not worth a visit when there's no many good ramen palces nearby

Value For Money Chirashi Don $10.90 for this bowl. Generous slices of salmon (8 slices), and comes with 3 types of Japanese sides. Another highlight is the truffle ebiko rice, very unique, first time having it in a chirashi. Made the whole meal enjoyable cause usually I don’t like the plain rice in most chirashi dons. 8.5/10!

Salmon Mentai $9.90 with Truffle Rice Every time passing by this shop, always has strong aroma of truffle. One day, I decided to dropped by and find out. Apparently, every dish that has the rice base, it will be served with a fragrant truffle rice. I topped up another $2 for an extra seaweed & jellyfish. Overall, it’s an affordable meal. Perhaps because it’s near NAFA & LASALLE college which has a lot of students.

Hojicha Latte (Iced - $6.50) I did enjoyed their hojicha latte as not that sweet taste but still got milky and roasted taste for it.

Way too expensive for basics Service and table wait was amazing. Food wise mediocre. Literally scrambled eggs with toast for $16, top up pork sausage for 6, adding up to $22. Look at it. Normal pre packed, processed sausages I would say. Normal bread, not even sourdough. What can I say, basic and soulless food. A bit sad and disappointed and way too pricey. Mocha came in a tiny glass cup. Wasn’t tasty too. Ambience??, no ambience.

Reuben 17++ It's decent, everything was not too strong. There could have been more meat tho. The bread had a noteworthy hard crisp which reminded me of crispy waffles for some reason Overall expensive place and not worth it at all, food is decent but quite overhyped

My favorite crepe place I’ve always enjoyed their Off the Bone crepe. A pity that the egg white wasn’t fully cooked this time unfortunately. The fig & camembert crepe was well done - soft, moist and it came with plenty of fruits and fig jam.

Galettes This is my first visit to Gather and the galettes (savoury crepes) are delicious! We had: ▪️Salami & Potato ($19) - Salami, sautéed russet and red pontiac potatoes, melted Brie and egg ▪️Mushroom ($18) - Sautéed portobello, white button and king oyster mushroom, rocket, mixed cheddar and egg ▪️Parma Ham ($19) - Italian Parma ham, mixed cheddar and egg The combination of the ingredients worked well and the runny egg tied everything together. The crepe is thin and the generous filling is a delightful burst of flavours. Enjoyed this thoroughly!

Burnt Caramel Crepe $15 Pricey for what it is, this is nonetheless a well-crafted crepe - svelte, silky soft and chewy. The drizzles of subtly bitter burnt caramel , dusting of confectioner's sugar and a pat of artisanal Bordier butter - reputedly one of the best in the world - come together in a simple but most gratifying way. Enhance this experience with a shot of strong espresso. - Taste: 3/5
