π½οΈ Mushroom Truffle Pizza @planksourdoughpizza
I wanted to make a pizza pun joke but I decide not to cos it will be too cheesy! π Let's move on to the reviews.
π Mushroom Truffle Pizza has the right amount of truffle smell and taste on it. It's not too overpowering and mushroom are flavourful.
I think the most important aspect of the pizza is that their sourdough are light and chewy so you can eat many slices compared to the pizza from pizza chains.
π½οΈ Pepperoni Pizza @planksourdoughpizza
I wanted to make a pizza pun joke but I decide not to cos it will be too cheesy! π Let's move on to the reviews.
π Pepperoni pizza is the go to if you want good old pizza without too complicated toppings. The saltiness of the pepperoni is on point.
I think the most important aspect of the pizza is that their sourdough are light and chewy so you can eat many slices compared to the pizza from pizza chains.
π½οΈ Beef Bresaola Pizza @planksourdoughpizza
I wanted to make a pizza pun joke but I decide not to cos it will be too cheesy! π Let's move on to the review.
π BEEF Bresaola Pizza is the pizza for only the month of December. So by the time you see this post, you only have few hours to get it.π The mustard cream is a great surprise.
I think the most important aspect of the pizza is that their sourdough are light and chewy so you can eat many slices compared to the pizza from pizza chains.
π½οΈ Yang Zhou Fried Rice @ Yummy Kitchen $4.50
π To be honest, I've almost forgotten how a normal fried rice should taste like ever since the short grain rice (Ding Tai Fung and king of fried rice) changed the fried rice scene here. Fortunately, we still have zhi char stores who keep their fried rice traditional. βΊοΈ The fried rice have enough wok Hei and is generous with the ingredients. It has shrimp, chicken, luncheon meat, char siew and egg. I'm not kidding when I say u can taste all the 5 elements in every bite! It's like the ingredients are proportioned perfectly with the amount of rice to make sure u have all the ingredients at the same time every mouthful.
Recommend a visit if you are around the area.
π½οΈ Char Grilled Chicken Chop @chargrillbarsg $6.50
π The chicken chop is nicely grilled and slightly crispy on the skin. The meat is not too dry fortunately. The gravy is a decent chicken gravy like the ones from KFC mash potatoes.
π₯ The seasoned vegetable is cooked/steamed with butter and salt. Simple but nice. So far it's the best sides I've ordered.
πThe fries are nicely fried.
Maybe third time's the charm, I think I've found the winners for their sides.
Swensen's Crispy Cornflake Chicken:
The serving is big and definitely value for money. Taste wise is what you are expecting from swensen's. You are not there for great taste but a taste of your childhood π
π₯The coleslaw with mysterious canned fruit. I'm not sure if it's peach or pineapple as there's basically no taste to it. π€·
π The chicken cutlet is huge. I believe it's the whole thigh. The outside is super crispy while the meat is juicy. π
π΅ The crabstick clam chowder has clams the size of a pea. I think Campbell soup is tastierπ
πΉIce lemon "syrup" tea is so worth it, just add water and you can make 3 extra mugs of Ice lemon tea. It's so sweet that I literally made 3 mugs of Ice lemon tea from that! Luckily their ice water is free π
π½οΈ Fried Delights' Oyster Omelette $5
The oysters are plump and creamy but not very fresh.
πΆοΈThe chilli sauce is really sour. Felt like they mixed too much vinegar in it.
π³ The omelette is the crispy kind and not alot tapioca flour. I'm more to the fluffy gooey Oyster Omelette kinda person.
πΎI was amazed on how much spring onions and Chinese Celery(not coriander) they gave. It can be a side dish by its own.π
How do you like your Oyster Omelette ? Team Crispy or Team Gooey?
π½οΈChicken cutlet Fried Rice $6
πThe fried rice has Wok Hei and you can smell the aroma of the egg π
πΆοΈ Mix a little of the chilli paste and you can change up the taste. The chilli is quite good and packs a punch. Might be too spicy for some.
π The chicken cutlet is thin but fried to crisp. The down side is the redundant nacho cheese sauce. It made the dish less "restaurant" quality. Maybe the home made chilli paste is too outstanding that it made the ready made nacho cheese sauce looks "cheesy"(pun intended)
Overall it's a nice fried rice mainly because it definitely has MSGπ
π½οΈBlack Pepper Chicken Rice @ Royal Kitchen Thai Cuisine $5.80
π³ The fried egg is one of the most nicely fried egg I've seen from a hawker stallπ
Most sunny side up we've seen are with egg yolk being exposed but this is nicely cooked and covered with a thin layer of egg white. The thought of breaking the yolk and let it run through the rice is already making me droolπ€€
πΆοΈ Chilli sauce is spicy and tangy. It's a good match with the creamy egg yolk and rice.
π The black pepper chicken has the right amount of spice and little sweetness from the onion.
π½οΈGolden Rooster Happiness Plate
$6.88 with @foodpandasg self pickup.
π Not sure if there's been a mistake or what, but the 3 pieces of chicken seems to be from a spring chicken. Drumstick is more like drumlet. The skin is crisp on the outside but still can be considered juicy on the inside. However, the "drumlet" was slightly undercooked with strain of blood near the bone.
π The fries... More like cracker. It's obvious that it has been refried for many times till there's no moisture and they became translucent. Of course there will be some people who prefers this dry texture but not me.
π₯ Not sure if cabbage and carrots are really expensive now that they just give you a shot of coleslaw.
π Buttered bread? It's tasty at the first bite but got abit too greasy on subsequent bites.
I understand this brand is under @tenderfreshsg and I had better experience with other outlets where the servings has a standard size. This is definitely an "unhappiness plate" for me π
π½οΈToh Guan TeoChew Noodle House's Lor Mee $4
π The gravy has scrambled eggs in it and does not taste like the typical glossy and gooey translucent gravy u get from some noodle stalls. The ingredients include pork belly, Ngoh Hiang, half a hard boiled egg, beansprouts and fish fillet instead of fish cake. The condiments included are minced garlic, chilli and vinegar.
Overall, a decent Lor Mee from a non Lor Mee specialised stall.
π½οΈ Signature Roasted Chicken Leg @finsandfeathers_sg $6.20
π The chicken thigh is tender and juicy. Slight crisp on the skin which adds on to the texture. For me, the herbs(thyme/rosemary) used is slightly overpowering. My guess would be Rosemary being used as thyme should have a milder flavour. It leaves an after taste in your mouth. As for the gravy, It might be that overpowering herbs taste that made the brown sauce/ chicken gravy sort of tasteless.
π The fries are nicely fried to golden brown and were kept separate from the gravy so that we don't get soggy fries.
π₯ Coleslaw is fresh and tangy.
Overall a really decent western food stall with reasonable pricing.
