That matcha soft serve was amazing. Worth every calorie.

Oden is ever synonymous with Japanese comfort food. Popped by on a chilly evening post yoga sesh and found the izakaya filled with locals and Japanese alike.

Beef katsu! I love tonkatsu so it's no surprise that I'm a sucker for this too. Choose the done-ness of your steak fillet by grilling it yourself on their hot plates. Also helps that it's decently priced $24.90 for a 90g cutlet set. More please!

This Shanghai cafe is a true instagrammers haven, especially with this cuppa Americano. Sweet little rain ($9.80) comes with a cloud of cotton candy, which slowly melts into your coffee thereby sweetening it. Pity my cloud of cotton candy wasn't the prettiest. The Americano though is brewed from pretty decent beans. In short - makes for lovely Instagram pictures, if you have the cash to spare. Lovely space to sit and watch the world go by.

Was really looking forward to visiting this cafe from Bangkok. Lovely space they have there with all the leafy decor and artistic tiles. The phad Thai was predictable. Did love the crispy salmon strips as a side.

Truth be told this was actually really pretty good. Not sure if I would pay $12 to have this again, just to be served in an air conditioned environment and have my order taken on an ipad.

Find the chicken ($16) was aptly named because it was, quite literally, an exercise in sourcing out those morsels of chicken bathed in a spicy tongue numbing sauce.
The chicken avocado salad ($20) sounded promising but the marriage of the two ingredients didn't do it for me. Or perhaps it was the blandness of those chicken strips buried in the avocado half. Quite the difference from the former.
That said, they do have a lovely lovely space and it must look gorgeous in the daytime too.

Who knew whisky and Japanese yakitori would be such a big hit? Having trouble deciding which whisky to go for? No worries, try one of their whisky flights. Otherwise ask, and the friendly service staff will only be too happy to have a chat! P/s: do have some yakitori to go along; the eggplant is pretty awesome!

Tucked away in a not so sleepy block of flats like any true hipster cafe, refuel serves decent grub at decent prices. Love that they have more on the menu than the usual brunch suspects, like this pesto scramble ($12.90). If only the pita bread it was served with was a tad less hard. They do get really crowded at lunch so best be early!

Served with a sprig of mint leaf, this drink is, truly, WICKED.

Handmade icecream by the folks behind Group Therapy. It's been a while since I've been wowed by a store selling homemade icecream but this is pretty great if I may say so. If you're game do try their honey Bak Kwa - if they haven't already run out of it.
