Previously reviewed on the red yeast wine mee sua and green curry rice #jylovesvegepot On my quest to find the best thunder tea rice in Singapore and so i decided to head down to Vege pot to give their thunder rice tea a try😊
Featuring:
1) Thunder tea rice TTR ($6.50) - 8/10
-Consists of brown rice (quite well flavoured with mushroom seasoning), topped with long beans, braised tofu, cabbage, carrots, chickpea, sayur manis and preserved raddish (chye poh); served the the thunder tea soup~
-Their thunder tea soup was browner than usual. Personally i felt that the brasil and mint that was prominent but not strong in terms of depth. It was on the savoury side and I felt that its too salty to drink it on its own. However, if you mixed it with the rice and the vegetables, the harmonisation between all the elements was insanely perfect and very hearty! It felt like an homecooked meal filled with warmth and really reminded me of my childhood meal where i mixed everything when my mum cooked 三菜一汤 together. Special shoutout to the braised tofu that is really aromatic
-Their thunder tea rice is really different from the usual!! It tastes really more healthy and clean; feeling more like mixed vegetables and rice with soup. If you are looking for something more healthy and willing to try a different type of TTR, i really recommend this. Its not the best that i have ever tried because the ingredients used is quite different from the usual "traditional" version but its definitely the best unique TTR I've tried and topped the spot in terms of homey and hearty feels. THANKS FOR BRINGING BACK MY CHILDHOOD MEMORIES❤
2) Claypot Sambal fish rice ($6.90) - 6/10
-Their sambal was really flavourful and tasted similar to assam minus the sourness. The spices was really distinct and fragrant.
Taste: 3.5/5
Worth it: 3/5 (quite pricey but its homey)
Overall: 6.5/10

Can go😁
Must go (must go for me in terms of the thunder tea rice YUMSS)

𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐟𝐚𝐬𝐭 ($18) - 6/10
-Two eggs of any style, salsicca pork sausage, bacon, enoki and button mushrooms, mango salsa, romaine salad, croissant, salted butter.
σνєяαℓℓ: Again, there wasn’t any mind-blowing factor here and tasted slightly above average. The scrambled egg wasnt overly cooked and all the elements really went well with one another.
P.S They have 50% eatigo discounts from 4,30pm to 5.30pm~!! Super worth it with the discount. And they are on burpplebeyond too! ✿Overall taste: 3.5/5 -Above average grain-bowls that tastes hearty and healthy
-Probably can also try their sandwiches or other brunch items (because IMO the big breakfast wasnt really that amazing to justify its price)
✿Worth it: 3.5/5 (4.5/5 With eatigo discount!!! Where can you get such a nice hearty filling grain bowls at
Made with plenty of Uji matcha powder (as seen from the dark green intensity) and fresh cream, the dense baum is shaped to mimic a bamboo stalk. This is definitely the best baumkuchen I have ever eaten and I am sure that once you’ve tried this, you wouldn’t be satisfied with commercial mediocre baumkuchen. The matcha flavour is really prominent right here, packed with vegetal astringency and fragrant earthy umami notes~ I was really impressed by the very mild sweetness level and hence you can really taste the bittersweetness of the matcha, with a satisfying lingering bitter undertone. Though some might find the baum a little too dense, I really love the texture and like how it isn’t overly dry nor greasy.
Matcha Distinctiveness: 10/10
Matcha Intensity: 9/10
Sweetness level: 2/10 (YASS, not overly sweet)
Overall: 9.5/10
PS. Due to the high intensity of the matcha flavour and the density of the cake, I recommend to cut it into small slices and slowly indulge ~ Place it in the fridge to last longer or keep it in the freezer for up to 3 months 👍🏻🌟 yums

However, needless to say, Tsujihei’s hojicha is still the best hojicha-flavoured softserve I’ve ever eaten. The hojicha flavour profile was really distinctive and concentrated. I love how it has a rich lingering roasted nutty aromatic undertone that complemented perfectly with the earthiness~ personally feel this flavour would suit those who have sweeter those and are not that hardcore.
-Once again, the matcha roll cake is definitely my favourite to-go topping to pair with the the rich, thick and creamy softserve. Really love the soft fluffy roll cake texture and luscious matcha cream that filled the core; with distinctive earthy unami matcha flavour. I strongly recommend to add the matcha roll cake as a topping even though the portion felt a bit small for $5. The taste is really worth it especially if you are a matchaholic. This matcha roll cake is a really a very good alternative while i await for @dairyandcream bake sales. Personally preferring and loving her roll cakes more (especially the genmaicha flavour <3 OMG) - i find her sponge cake more moist, soft and fluffy + the fresh cream & custard cream that she makes are always very light, minimally sweetened and simply insanely delicious.
Definitely a MUST GO as previously reviewed: #JYlovestsujiriheihonten
Missing this soooo much~
#jylovestsujiriheihonten #matchaYIN #tsujiriheihonten #辻利兵衛本店 #burpple #sgfoodie
You can get the cold ones and store for up to 3 days in the fridge🤤 and just steamed it for 15mins.
I love how their beautiful baos are made with no preservatives or artificial colouring❤ all natural goodness!
Their steamed buns dough is really super fluffy and moist, filled with natural sweetness from the yeast and fragrant fermentation aroma.
Featuring:
1) Yam bun (my ultimate FAV) 4.75/5
- As previously reviewed #jylovesjustdough, the yam paste tasted really natural and is mildly sweetened. I really really LOVE the fragrance of the yam that was really prominent in the chuncky paste, filled with bits of yam pieces.
2) Coconut brown sugar 3.75/5
-Though sweetened by brown sugar, i am glad the filling wasnt too sweet. The brown sugar complemented well with the crunchy coconut shreds and provided the moisture and juiciness.
3) Chocolate banana 3.75/5
-They were very generous with the chocolate filling with wasnt overly sweet and was thick and gooey like those in chocolate lava cakes. The chunks of banana in it provided a nice texture too~
4) Red bean 4.25/5
-Not a fan of red bean but I must say that i am pretty impressed by their red bean bun! The filling tasted natural and wasnt too sweet! I really like how the natural red bean taste really shined through. Glad they roughly grinded their beans which added a nice dimension to the bun. Its really different from other tau sar pau and its the BEST I've ever tasted.
I really miss their salted egg pumpkin and tapioca steamed bun... and also the fruit cream cheese. Super sad that they stopped producing these flavours due to the shorter shelf-life.
Their buns are really perfect for those who dont have a super sweet tooth.

You guys really serve the BEST dope bagels in SG! So worth all those calories! Glad that i went super early today so most bagel flavours were available and the queue wasn’t that insane yet~ Always having a satisfying and filling meal at TMBH ^^ ILYALL
Featuring:
1. Jamaica (Chicken) with all-sorts bagel (8/10) - $13
- Jerk Chick, Mango salsa, toasted chickpeas, spicy sauce
- Generous portion of chicken thigh that was very well-marinated and juicy coupled with tangy mango salsa (green unripe mangoes provided a good slight crunch). I love how the toasted chickpeas added another dimension to the overall texture with its crunchiness. The spicy sauce provided a slight kick to this dish
2. Self customised: Sesame Bagel + Sunny eggs + Cheddar + Hippie Greens + Tomatoes + Hashbrown + Lime aioli (9/10) - $12
- I love this combination especially how that sinful hash brown provide a super nice crunch to this whole dish. TMBH really makes the best sunny eggs~ I love how the egg yolk is always so flowy~ Thank you the staff for her recommendation to add the lime aioli sauce as it provided a good moisture and slight tanginess.
Wanted to try the Lulamon but there weren’t any charred cauliflower today :( I will be back to try that vegan bagel~~!! LOVE TMBH, the staffs are so nice and upbeat :) yaaass
P.S out of all their bagel flavours I've tried so far, i recommend the cinnamon raisin, sesame and cheddar the most.

Matcha softserve ($7) + Warabimochi topping 2pcs ($2)
-Till date, their matcha softserve still ranks as my TOP 1 favourite matcha ice-cream; really the BEST and most GAO. I love the deep robust vegetal astringency harmonising perfectly with the lingering earthy bittersweet undertone. Definitely unami-packed with super distinct matcha flavour profile~ 100% satisfaction for great HARDCORE matchaholics out there. Glad that their matcha softserve leans towards the bitter and intense side rather than sweet or milky. Although i am lactose intolerant and prone to insomnia from matcha overdose, i have really NO REGRETS HAHAHA feel super perked up and energised after satisfying my matcha cravings from Tsujirihei~
-The warabimochi, soft yet sufficiently chewy, was sufficiently dusted with matcha powder. I prefer their version of chewier warabimochi rather than those melt-in-your mouth ones
2. Matcha softserve ($7) + matcha roll cake ($5)
-The roll cake is one of the best topping to complement the matcha softserve. I love how the pillowy-soft matcha sponge cake encased the smooth luscious matcha chattily cream was pleasantly earthy and unami, with a lingering bittersweet undertone. I am really glad that the robust matcha flavour profile was distinct in both the sponge as well as the cream, though i find their roll cake a little more on the sweeter side (as compared to the softserve). As i am personally not a fan of the matcha-azuki combination, I am glad that the ratio of azuki beans in the swissroll cake was very minimal and did not overpower the matcha flavour… although the omission of it would be better HAHAHA
Needless to say, definitely a MUST GO~ <3 My matcha Haven~
Matcha richness : 5/5

I was always tempted to try them every time they came to Singapore during Takashimaya food fair but was usually too late to get the flavours i wanted. Oyaki is a traditional local flour dumpling unique to Nagano, filled with various vegetables and served grilled/steamed/both.
I love how the dumpling/steamed bun skin, made from glutionous rice flour, is thin and the fillings were very generous. The skin isn’t those fluffy or super mochi-like chewy kind. It is soft-textured with slight chewiness and complemented well with the fillings inside - not overly doughy.
Priced at $3.80 each / 3 for $10 —> it was definitely more worth it to get 3 flavours
My top 3 ultimate wanted-to-try flavours were:
1. Nozawana (a local leafy green) —> No 2 most popular
2. Shimeijiyasai (Shimeji and vegetables) —> No 1 most popular
3. Kinpira (Burdock Root, commonly used in TCM as it is known to have lots of potential health benefits)
However, most of the flavours were completely sold out when i went yesterday (OOOOPS too late again). Luckily, there was Kinpira so YAY~
I settled for:
1. Kabotya (Pumpkin) 7/10
- Smashed pumpkin marinated in miso
- I love harmony between natural sweetness of the pumpkin and the slight savouriness of the miso that was really aromatic and elevated the pumpkin’s fragrance.
2. Unohana (Tofu Pulk) 3/10
- Carrots, daikon, raddish, leek and other vegetables
- I personally felt it was like a very mild flavoured “popiah” raddish filling that tasted pretty “meh”. I was quite shocked that this was one of their popular product… errrmmm
3. Kinpira (Burdock root) 7.5/10
- Burdock root and carrots stir-fried in rapeseed oil and seasoned using a sweet-savoury sauce.
- YAY at least i managed to try one of the flavour i was looking forward to and YESHHH it didnt disappoint me. I really love the crunchiness of the burdock root with a distinct but not overpowering subtle herbal flavour. Glad that this leans towards a slight savoury side rather than sweet (I don’t have a sweet tooth) HAHA
Overall Taste: 6.5/10

There is 1 for 1 today because its 11-11. Love acai bowls!! I remembered their acai was more sourish/tangy previously. Today's bowl felt a little too sweet for my liking. Nonetheless, Juju is still one of my top favourite acai places in SG because their acai blend isnt overly sweetened unlike some other places. And I really love the coconut chia pudding too! The subtle coconut fragrance and the pudding texture is simply divine😍 $8.90 for a regular bowl (quite small in portion tbh) is a quite pricey and tbh not very worth. Hence, I could only return when there is offer😅😅🙈 or once in a while for indulgence #brokestudentlife you can read my previous post for a more detailed reveal.
#burpple
We ordered the Tropicana and the berrylicious bowls ($8.90 for M; $11.90 for L). You can also self-customise your acai bowl by $9.50 M and $12.50 L.
As i was afraid that the acai would be too sweet for my liking (previously I've tried the acai bowl from Afterglow and it was SUPER SWEET :(( << will review it soon), I've requested to change the acai base to greek yogurt for the berrylicious bowl. Super thankful that the staff kindly agreed to. The service here is really 👍👍 i also requested for no banana and more chia pudding for the berrylicious bowl. Thankful to the staff who served the mafan me😅
We were super glad that the acai base wasnt too sweet. The acai taste was prominent and fragrant though it lacked that tangy sour accent (which JUJU acai bowls have) and was abit too frozen. Nonetheless, it still tasted really nice and refreshing. They were also really generous with the toppings😋😋 and special SHOUTOUT to their GRANOLAAA!! OMO this is the BEST GRANOLA!! It is minimally sweetened with just the right amount of sweetness to bring out the aroma of the oats 😍😍. Also, it is baked till perfection with the right amount of crisp! Glad that it is refined sugar free and gluten free!! Its really different from those sugar laden nasties that you find in supermarket! Another special mention would be their drizzle!! They have macadamia butter which was what we opted for because its different from the usual almond butter or peanut butter. Though the macadamia taste wasnt really strong, or it was masked by the other ingredients in the bowl, it still added a nice savoury touch to the acai/yogurt bowl.
Ps. There is 1for1 on burpple for their medium acai bowls (standard ones or self-customised ones). So its really worth it if you have burpple!
Worth it: 3.5/5 (Similar to most acai bowl prices and they were quite generous with the ingredients. Plus their specialty homemade healthy granola is really GOOD and WORTH trying)
Taste: 4/5
Overall: 7.5/10
