Bib Gourmand (Michelin Guide Singapore 2022-)
This original outlet just has the one menu item: the display board just states Soup/Dry $3.50 (and additional fishballs at $0.50 ea).
Grilled Catfish w/ Creamy Dill Sauce ($7.20), with Wild Olives’ Signature Mushroom Rice, and Seasonal Vegetables (choice of 2 side dishes)
Black Mussels w/ Garlic Butter Cream Sauce ($7.50, good for sharing)
1h queue on a rainy Sunday lunchtime, but completely worth it. All the food is flavourful, meats are grilled to perfection, and portions are generous & value-for-money.
They have an (unspoken) system in place where they will come around to the queue to get everyone’s choice of mains to start grilling; when you finally get to the counter, settle the choice of sauce and sides (and any other add-ons), and make payment. The food is served pretty quickly after that.
Lechon Sisig is lechon chopped into small pieces and stir-fried in butter, onions, and green chilli, served on a sizzling plate. $12 (drinks sold separately).
Melted cheese on chili-tomato ground beef, mixed beans, with thick toasted Brioche, served with nachos & salad; $18.90. Add Sautéed Mushrooms; $3.50.
The chili con carne is hearty and flavourful, and also goes well with the accompanying nachos. A sizeable serving, satisfying and worth it 👍
w/ French fries, and Garden veggies (choice of two sides). $7.50
The savouriness of the fish & lightly crispy batter, with the lemony buttery flavour of the sauce work very well together—salt, fat, acid, heat even.
Homely neighbourhood Western food, in the same coffeeshop as Xiao Di Fried Prawn Noodle
New menu item, and new outlet. $5.50
Lazy Lizard is three-times SG Food Masters winners so far since 2020, and their Crabby Pesto Pasta was one of the recommended dishes from the first year and still holding strong 😋
The Albens cider is refreshing, fruity & easy-drinking, and the pleasant surprise is that it originates from Bali, Indonesia!
$18.90. Delicious sandwich with well-balanced flavours. My first time here, but definitely want to come back to try their other items!
Steeple’s Deli is still looking for a new location, but will be at Tanglin Shopping Centre until at least end-April 2023. (Originally they were supposed to move out by end 2022 due to the en bloc sale, but seems they have been given an extension.)
