Mao Shan Wang Mousse with Biscoff Coming here could be not easy for those taking public transport, as you still need to walk for a distance to reach here. And the shop is facing the main road of Woodlands Avenue 12, so might difficult to locate the shop if you come from the back of the building. Beside continuing their durian business at this premise, there’s also tables and chairs for people who come here for dessert. Their Mao Shan Wang Mousse definitely worth getting, which taste very thick; comes with a piece of the pulp. Recommends to add the biscoff to it and add some cripsy bites. Enjoy your Burpple Beyond here with one for one dessert like this together with a drink.

Tea Party Cafe Went to TPC to have lunch after school! Ordered the spicy sausage creamy spagetti, fries, chicken karaage, chicken nuggets and lastly, vanilla and chocolate icecream. Total was about $18 and honestly, the food here is pretty affordable☺️ This shop however, is self-service which is why there is no gst and svc charge(which is great)!! Would rate it a 7.5/10 in terms of food, coziness of the ground level and pricing!☺️

Al Funghi & Duck Pizza My favourite thing about this place is that all mains come with a soup and a glass of ice lemon tea! Most of the pastas are priced at $8.50 (for the whole set) so I found it really affordable. I heard that the carbonara was their specialty but I’ve always been one to prefer Al Funghi over Carbonara so I chose that instead. Overall it was pretty good even though I wasn’t expecting them to use what I thought was canned mushrooms in a dish where the mushroom should be the star BUT for the price paid, I think it’s not too bad. The cream wasn’t too thick which I enjoyed even though I know some people prefer it creamier. The duck pizza was also really really flavourful!

The Tea Party Tucked away at sixth avenue centre. $8.80 for a munch set consisting of soup, drink and main. Had sausage aglio olio. It was a tad oily and the sausages were quite thinly sliced. If I were to order a la carte, I wouldn't have ordered plain aglio for $5++ instead of this which costs $8++ 10% off if you dine there in wet weather!

Aglio Olio Bacon ($6.50) Type: Takeaway/Western Pasta is still so good and affordable at $6.50 currently with ice lemon tea. Each order is cooked upon order so the pasta is hot upon collection and the aglio is so fragrant, being fried with tonnes of diced garlic. Honestly, the best Aglio I’ve had in SG, and the most value for money. Love!!! My rating: 5/5 ⭐️

Seafood Marinara Pasta ($6.50) Finally featuring Tea Party 🎉 I’ve come to understand why students like it - it’s super affordable and yummy in a comforting way. The Seafood Marinara has somewhat become my go to order - the pasta is always served al dente, piping hot in a tasty tomato sauce and the ingredients are pretty generous too! The staff here are always friendly and the aunty has a knack for remembering the special orders of her regulars.

Cheap Pasta Best items to order: - Bacon Arrabbiata pasta. Super underrated option here that is spicy, garlicky and just super super yummy! - Aglio Olio pasta. Most of the toppings are nice but really the bacon is the best option. - Bolognese pasta. Not authentic, obviously but good non spicy and tomato base option. They’re very generous with the sauce too. - Mac and Cheese. They put in the microwave to heat it up, but it’s honestly still really decent tasting!! - Truffle fries. Where else can you find truffle fries for $4 you tell me!! Since it’s not a popular item they always fry it upon ordering so it’s super fresh. Always v crispy and they’re generous w the truffle oil.

Vanilla Strawberry Hojicha Drawn to their whole cakes, we had to get a tall slice of their Vanilla Strawberry Hojicha ($9.50/ slice); especially with the vibrant fresh strawberry topping. Layered with madagascan vanilla sponge, fresh strawberry filling, and hojicha buttercream, the cake looked kinda dry and dense at first but was surprisingly moist on the first bite. The taste of the hojicha buttercream lacked a little oomph in my opinion. However, it did have a lightly roasted tea flavour and was overall complementary to the strawberry filling (fresh strawberry was yum). It wasn’t too sweet overall, and great with tea.

Chocolate Banana Lime A little embarrassed that it is my first time at The Better Half and after this visit, it definitely won’t be my last. My favourite and something I would definitely return for is the Chocolate Banana Lime ($7.50) cake. Simply sublime, the chocolate sponge, fresh banana filling, and lime buttercream combo was a winner. Recommended by the staff when we were deciding on getting another cake, the rich chocolate-y cake was light, kinda moist but not airy so it has that tinge of decadence without being dense or cloying. Love love love the layer of fresh, pleasantly sweet banana hidden under the cream. And the best part was the smooth lime buttercream - fragrant, creamy, and providing that subtle zing to cut through the richness and tie everything together.

Just Pancakes Set ($8) Hidden little cafe in AMK which serves mains, desserts and drinks. Pancakes are a bit thin but they go well with salted butter and maple syrup. Ordered a flat white for the set and the coffee is decent for the price. Staff are friendly and nice. Do note that the cafe has limited seats so it may not be suitable to host large groups.

Great service & food Had the Pork Udon with egg and rice with assorted tempura (Kakiage & Snow cream croquette). I like that they provide a few free condiments such as tempura bits & seaweed which you can add to your udon or rice like me to further enhance the meal. Being in a town area, the food here is affordable which explain the queue outside.

Black Garlic Tonkotsu Udon ($12.80) previously I didn't able to try it out but in ramen version. But it's much better than previous trip that I have tried it out. But I felt that their udon was quite hard and not that chewy texture in the past that they used have.

tamoya udon curry udon with beef - my go-to order! always love curry udon because i find that udon noodles always go so well with the slightly sweet/spicy japanese curry, and the beef slices are also such a great pairing. 8/10
