SUPER HIDDEN GEM!!

Location - A short walk from Kallang MRT station sits this really cute and pretty cafe!

Ambience - Our first time here and surprised to see that it wasn’t full house on a Saturday night. I wish they get more attention because they do deserve it!

Food - Portion wise was really good given its price. Both of us were super full after the meal :) We chose extra spicy for the Hae Bee Hiam Aglio Olio but it wasn’t that spicy to us. There’a Chili padi inside which packs a punch when you bite onto it but I love it! The fish & chips is huge, super generous with the mentaiko sauce and we like that the batter isn’t too thick. Fries are super crispy which is AMAZING! Our iced mocha came with the little bear which is adorable! Remember to choose the option with the bear because it’s actually the same price as iced mocha tho we not sure if that comes with the bear or not..

Price wise - really value for money! We paid $30.60 for 2 mains (after Burpple 1-for-1) and a drink.

Will definitely come back for me if they renewed their deals! It’s a pity we didn’t discover this earlier :(

First time here!!

First of all, the place - super ulu for the both of us (1hr+ journey) so that’s the reason why it took us the longest time to come here 🤣 BUT, we are glad we made it here!

Ambience wise - not the best but you do see many families hanging out here (probably due to the Taekwondo classroom next door) which it’s such a pleasant sight! I guess it’s quite a family friendly place uh

Food wise - portion is super generous, we were damn full after the meal. Pasta was slightly on the saltier side, filled with several chunks of beef but not the short rib kind that I was expecting (with soft bones and all).. Pork ribs was super tender! The meat and bone tears off without much effort. Portion is about half a rack of ribs :) Love the wedges too, super crispy!!

Price wise - slightly on the pricier side. Slightly better with Burpple beyond deals but am abit puzzled with the bill. So the 1-for-1 discount is the lower-value dish + GST, and the service charge is for both the dishes. But what I don’t get is, they charged GST on the service charge?!?! Our bill came up to be around $36 after the discount which is still pricey comparing to other cafes so… will only come once in awhile I guess :’)

Here for the first time and damn, we wished we knew about this place earlier. We arrived around late afternoon on a Sunday and it wasn’t crowded at all (love it!)

Tried the Roasted Pistachio and Matcha Cheesecake, double scoops at $10. Slightly on the pricey side but definitely worth the money.

Roasted pistachio was super rich, super nutty. For us who ordered roasted pistachio at every ice cream place we go, this is definitely one of the best in town (the other one, in our opinion is BOP 😛)

Matcha cheesecake took us by surprise as there aren’t many reviews about it but oh god, we were welcomed with huge chunks of legit cheesecake in it. Not just bits of the cheesecake crumble base but legit cheesecake made with probably the Philadelphia cream cheesecake. We were so delighted by it. Definitely worth to try when you see it! The matcha is also on the bitter side despite the light colour and along with the sweetness of the cheesecake, they are such a perfect pair!!

We’ll definitely be back to try the other flavours and probably the coffee!!

Came here because of all the hype on social media plus the $9.90++ opening promo.

Queue was around 20mins during weekday lunch time and we tried stinky tofu as well as collagen - the two most expensive hotpot on the menu. We also separately added the fried beancurd roll for $3.80++ (3pcs)

Great that we finally have stinky tofu hotpot in Singapore but to be very honest, the taste is nowhere similar to the ones in Taiwan. It's more mala than stinky tofu I would say and the tofu itself is missing the unique fragrance that stinky tofu should have so it's a pity. Ingredients wise - it's exactly the same as their menu image, where almost everything comes in 2 qty. 2 prawns, 2 clams, 2 prawn balls.. we were lucky to have 3 pieces of beef because my family who came one day before me only found 2 slices of beef in their hotpot. There's an option to choose either pork shabu shabu or beef shabu shabu as the meat. There's 3 pieces of stinky tofu as well along with half a portion of instant noodles and a bunch of vegetables. It's comes with a mini bowl of rice too for free. Not sure if this is the portion for the promo or the original portion because I definitely would not pay $24.90++ for it. Would rather go for HDL's weekday lunch promo at $15.90 just one level below. But if it's $9.90, it's pretty worth it!

Would not recommend the collagen hotpot as well because it tasted like normal pork soup base and abit too clear to think that it contains collagen. The meat is fixed for collagen - pork shabu shabu and it comes with korean glass noodles instead of instant noodles.Portion wise is also similar to stinky tofu where it comes with 2 pieces of each ingredient (other than the veg and the fish roe.. can't believe they only gave one fish roe ball :( wish that it was 2 as well haha. It comes with a mini bowl of rice too. This is priced $23.90++ on tbe menu...

Both soup base tasted pretty instant so will probably not return again. Good to try tho for $9.90++

First time trying sourdough pizza and we love it!! ❤️ Had a really hard time deciding on the flavours but I'm so glad we didn't regret getting any one of it ☺️

We ordered the night before and the delivery came on time within the time frame. The delivery uncle was pretty nice - he happily exclaimed that the pizzas are still warm 😂 we still went ahead to heat up the pizza following the instructions given by them. Its actually very thoughtful for them to provide instructions, especially for a new customer like me.

Truly after the heat up, the pizzas are super flavourful and the base is super crispy and thin, just the way my family loves it ❤️ Oh and not to forget, the owner even send WhatsApp messages to check if the pizzas are okay and asked for our feedback. A* for the service!!

Got the 1-for-1 burrple waffle set and we chose our all time favourite pistachio as well as durian (since it was the durian season). If I'm not wrong, we had to top up for premium flavours but trust me, it's worth it!! The pistachio is creamy and not overly sweet, bf loves it! For someone who is not hardcore durian fan, I find the durian ice cream super to my liking :) it did not have those artificial flavour which some durian ice cream have. Will definitely be back to try the other flavours!

The waffles on the other hand is warm and fluffy, pretty well done :) The iced coffee and hot tea on the other hand just taste like the normal coffeeshop kopi and teh, nothing to shout-out abt.

Overall, it's location in a really quiet plaza just a few mins walk from the mrt station - we came on Sunday afternoon and it wasn't crowded at all. Definitely a good place to just chill though the tables are actually in the corridor :')

First time here!
Advice to make reservation in advance on Chope or directly as it's full house on a Sunday night. Downside of making reservation directly is you will have to give your credit card in advance as they will charge you for $60 penalty if no show. Dining time is around 1h15mins only.

We tried the steak and the burger and ordered the potatoes as a side! They serve salt & pepper popcorn for free too! Overall, food is pretty good except that everything is abit too salty for me. We sat opposite the popcorn machine and I literally saw a staff scooped 3 big spoonful of salt & pepper and left. Then another staff came and added 2 more scoops. No wonder it's soooooo salty but people who likes salty stuff will find it nice 🤣 the sauce in the burger is pretty salty too and not to mention the salt particles on the steak as well. Understand that salt is the best buddy for steak but probably will ask them to tone down the salt the next time I visit. They serve salt and pepper on the table anyway.

Nevertheless, the food is still good and price is pretty decent considering it's quite atas 🤭 paid $60 for 2 mains and 1 side! Will probably be back to try the gyudon!

Came here on a Saturday afternoon (2.30pm) using eatigo 60% discount!

Service was okay as there were only 2 staff working, the lady boss were pretty nice tho, asking how's our food etc after we were done eating :)

Tried the chili crab pasta and pork ribs. The pasta was drenched in lots of sauce that's pretty thick and it's on the sweet sour side so it can get quite jelat after awhile so good to share with someone else!

The pork ribs were tender but the sauce used reminds me more of Chinese braised sauce rather than American bbq sauce which I thought it would be.

Nevertheless, pretty worth it with the discounts but doubt I will come back if there isn't any discounts as the prices are on the steeper end.

Second time here at The Coffee Academics but first time here at Scotts Square!

Used BB and got the fish fillet tacos as I was craving for it. No kidding but the fillings in the tacos at Scotts Square is much bigger than the ones I first had at Raffles City.

Tried the spicy crab meat linguine and prefers it 100 times more than the miso salmon pasta (probably because the salmon was overcooked + really small pasta portion back at Raffles City). The linguine wasn't drenched in sauce but they pretty generous with the crab meat. Tasted like hae bee hiam as well with a hint of spiciness. I wish it was spicier tho.

We also ordered iced Manuka coffee and it was great! We love it. The coffee was smooth and it's not overly sweet. It's pretty pricey but will definitely have it on my treat-yourself days :))

Will try their all day breakfast items next time!

First time here to try their ice cream popiah! It's on their menu for a limited time till 19th May :)

Overall, it's not bad - pretty similar to the ones in Taiwan except that it does not have corriander (yes to those who hates it like me) and the sweat crunchy peanut candy (😭😭 I really love them tho). Only granted peanuts were used.

Comes in 3 flavours of ice cream, top up $1 to change all 3 flavours to premium options! We tried Hojicha, Pistachio and Coco Yam (I think that's what it was called). Coco Yam taste pretty normal to me but bf said it's nice. Hojicha and Pistachio is not bad, pretty rich :) In terms of size, it's smaller than normal scoop of ice cream, probably so as to fit them all into the popiah skin.

However, the queue was really bad as the place is pretty small with limited seatings (only around 5 tables). We came previously on a Saturday night around 11pm and waited for an hour only to be told that the ice cream popiah was sold out.... This time round we came around 9pm and were lucky to have only 3 groups in front of us :)

Will be back to try other flavours if it's not crowded!

Have always been wanting to come ever since it was opened and I finally dropped by this cozy little shop with my family 💕

Tried Honey Chamolia Blue Pea Flower and Cold Brew with Cocoa Nibs. Was pretty impressed by how strong the flavours were. The waffles were soft and fluffy too. Happy that they included little bits of fruits as well :)

Will be back to try the other flavours!
So happy that there's finally a proper ice cream place near my house 😊

For those with shopback, do purchase the 1-for-1 premium scoop deal ($4) because it's super worth it!

First time here and we didn't know what flavours to try other than pistachio (our go-to flavour in all ice cream place that has this flavour) so we chose Stacy's Mom, a flavour that's almost empty (turns out that it's a pretty popular flavour because many people have ordered it while we were there) Bf likes the pistachio, said that it's quite good -- super nutty and not overly sweet as well. On the other hand, Stacy's mom has a pretty unique taste tho the cherry taste is quite overpowering. Good for those who likes cherry flavoured products!

Their golden waffles ($4.50) is pretty standard, nothing extraordinary.

Ordered their hot latte as well ($4.50) and was surprised that the size id abit small but it tasted decent as well.

However, our experience wasn't that pleasant because they totally forgot about our order and we waited over 20mins for our latte and waffles. Knew that they forgot our order because the staff were just chichatting among themselves rather than making our coffee and our point was proven when two tables behind us got their food served first.. Despite that it's pretty obvious that they missed out our order, I wished that they would at least apologize for making us wait so long.

Would come back again and give them a second chance if the shopback deal still exists otherwise the location is also another meh factor because it's soooo out of the way.

P.S. We came on a rainy day so the place wasn't full, otherwise I think would need to wait awhile because it's a small cozy shop!

Rate: 3.5🌟 (would have given 4 if our experience is better! )
