Wanton Mee($6) + Sio Bak($3) + Lava Egg($1.50)

Sio Bak used to be the best here. The Char siew and Roasted Duck have since leapfrogged above them in my estimation.

Like their Noodles here too.

Only 2 Wantons in a Wanton Mee.

Back again at 88 HKRMS, had the duck drumstick noodles this time.

Duck meat was tender and easily slides off the bone. The duck skin was so good.

The chilli and the noodles goes so well together with the fried pork lard.

A few vegetables thrown in to make the dish less sinful (lying to myself).

Definitely coming back here again

My go to place for roast meats, visit them around 11am when they are fresh out of the oven...

Known to be one of the best shao la or roast meat stalls in Singapore, I must say their meats are really of standard.

We got 3 different meats and an egg for 2 pax ($19.30) which we do find slightly more expensive than other places. The roast pork belly pieces were very well executed, as the skin is not only really crispy, but airy as well. The meat itself stays succulent and flavourful. The roast duck pieces were tender and flavourful from the herbal ingredients used to season it.

I believe the winner of all their meats is their char siu, as not only it was really tender, it comes with a layer of pork skin which was well caramelised with the sweet savoury sauce around the meat. I dare say this is one of the best char siu I've had.

Their chilli sauce are to be commended as well, as they not only pack a punch, they were savoury and garlicky too. Perfect with rice!

Definitely worth a visit if you are around the area!

I finally understood why 88 Hong Kong Roast Meat Specialist is a popular hunt for many when they are craving for char siew and roast pork, even if I wasn’t at the main outlet.

Known for their biscuity roast pork, the ultra crispy roast pork skin crackles differently from many others out there. However, what I personally didn’t really like though, was the chunk of fat in each piece that made it too oily and jelak. Perhaps the next time I should request for leaner meat. On the other hand, I found the char siew here pretty memorable and unique. The extreme caramelic skin was one to die for, as it also comes with a touch of smokiness. I really like how sweet caramelic it was, but the downside is that the skin could get stuck to your teeth easily. Again, the meat could come across slightly fatty.

Highly recommended to pair the meat with their thin egg noodles that doesn’t have any alkaline taste. Tossed in lard oil, the bowl of noodles came really aromatic, but also remember to ask for their chili because the flavorful though slight fiery chili was a perfect pairing.

Many claims that 88 HKRMS sells the best sio bak in SG, and many will agree.

Not only are their sio bak very good, their roasted duck and char siew are very well done.

Sio bak skin very very crispy.
